Anchor

Anchor

  • a heavy object attached to a cable or chain and used to moor a ship to the sea bottom, typically having a metal shank with a pair of curved, barbed flukes at one end.

It takes a very heavy and securely fastened chain to hold a ship firmly in place, so it doesn’t leave it’s mooring place. So when we talk about God being our ‘anchor’ we are referring to God being the One who is always by our side, who never leaves us, and is our strength and shield during times of trouble.

You're the Lord Almighty
Your every word is sure
And in Your love unfailing
I'm safe when oceans roar
Yes, I'm safe when oceans roar
My anchor, forever
My shelter within the storm
You're my deliverer
You never falter
You're the rock I stand on
Here within the struggle
And every crashing wave
You are more than able
Your hand is strong to save
I hold on to You
And You hold on to me
Jesus, I hold on to You
And You hold on to me
