Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
As we go through life, we go from place to place, we meet and converse with other people, but do we think about the impact we have on them, good or bad?
No matter where we are, or who we are with, we as Christians can show Christ to others by the way we lead our lives, through our words and actions. God can help us to become more like Christ, and will prepare our hearts and minds to help us show Christ to those we meet, we can do that when we pray.
It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Deuteronomy 31:8
The band sometimes use the song, ‘If Your Presence’ to conclude our practices or our Sunday worship. It’s a song which as the song says, reminds us, ‘How will anyone know we are your people’ or that ‘we go in your name‘, unless we’ve asked God to prepare the hearts of those we will meet.
We rarely know what impact or impression we have on other peoples’ lives. I pray that God will go before each of us, and inspire us to tell others of God’s love for them.
Lord, if your presence does not go with us, Please do not send us up from here. How will anyone know we are your people Unless you go before us? Lord, if your favour does not rest on us We dare not move beyond this place, How will anyone know we go in your name Unless your blessing is over us? So we stand within your presence, And humbly seek your grace; Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour, We long to meet you face to face. Let your glory fall upon us, Convict, inspire, provide; Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour, Your holy presence is our guide. Lord if your presence does not stay with us, Please do not send us up from here. How will anyone hear of truth and goodness Unless your Word speaks through us? Lord, if your presence is not love in us How can we minister your grace? How will anyone feel your tender mercy Unless your heart is in us? So we stand within your presence, And humbly seek your grace; Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour, We long to meet you face to face. Let your glory fall upon us, Convict, inspire, provide; Father Almighty, Jehovah, Saviour, Your holy presence is our guide.
