Weather and you

This week in the west of Scotland (and throughout the UK) we’ve had cooler temperatures with rain, followed by extra hot and dry, sunny weather. Phew, it’s been extra hot the last few days. How have you coped?

I was working from home on Thursday when the weather first started heating up. Fortunately I have a large fan in my ‘home office’ as well as a small rechargeable desk fan, between them and some nice cold drinks, I managed to stay relatively comfortable. In the evening once the warmest heat of the day had past, I got some fresh air by doing a little bit of tidying up in the front garden. Even then I was still hot by the time I finished.

Then on Friday, the hottest day of the year so far, I was in the office – it started hot and got hotter and hotter as the day went on. I was glad when it was time to head home, though the heat when I got into my car was unbearable, I could hardly sit on the driver’s seat as it was so hot. Fortunately after a few minutes of turning the air conditioning on full, the inside of the car did begin to start cooling down. It was good to get home, as the house, although still hot, was a little cooler and more bearable than the office was.

It’s been really difficult to sleep in this heat the last few nights, although we’ve now been leaving one of the small fans in the bedroom on overnight to try and keep us a little bit cooler.

We shouldn’t complain about all this heat should we, as we want some dry sunny weather, but then complain when it’s too hot! We’re never happy are we!

Tomorrow the weather looks as if it’s going to change here again, as we have rain, thunder showers and it’s meant to be about 10 degrees cooler than it has been.

I hope you’ve found a way to cope in this heat, and have kept cool and hydrated. Take care.
