We search for peace

Every day, the headlines echo with the heartbreak of wars erupting, families fleeing, nations trembling, acts of hatred and intolerance. The world feels heavy with conflict, and our souls ache for peace. Not just the absence of violence, but the presence of wholeness. The kind of peace that Jesus promised.

It’s easy to feel helpless in the face of such global unrest. What can one person do when the world seems to be unraveling? The bible reminds us that peace doesn’t begin on battlefields, it begins in hearts.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.

John 14:27

Jesus offers a peace that defies circumstance. It’s not fragile or fleeting. It’s rooted in His presence, His promises, and His power. When we search for peace, we’re really searching for Him.

And when we find Him, we become bearers of peace. In our homes. In our communities. In our prayers for the nations. We may not be able to stop every war, but we can choose to be peacemakers—those who sow gentleness, speak truth in love, and intercede for healing.

Let your search for peace begin with surrender. Lay down your fear, your outrage, your weariness. Let Christ quiet your heart. Let Him remind you that He is still sovereign, still good, still near.

And then, from that place of peace, pray boldly. Love deeply. Live gently. The world needs your light.

A song that beautifully captures this longing is Let There Be Peace on Earth – I want to highlight one line in particular:

Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.

Let this be your anthem tonight. Not just a wish, but a calling.
