There are days when our minds feel like crowded rooms, full of worries, what ifs, and questions that just keep nagging at us.
We worry about our families.
We worry about our health.
We worry about decisions we need to make.
We worry about things we can’t control, and even things we know we shouldn’t be worrying about.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6–7
These are challenging words, aren’t they, because the truth is, we do get anxious, we do worry. we do lie awake at night replaying conversations, imagining worst‑case scenarios, or trying to plan our way out of uncertainty.
These verses in Philippians aren’t telling us thought, they are inviting us. They remind us that we don’t have to carry everything alone. We don’t have to mould our future together with our own hands. We don’t have to pretend to be strong when we feel overwhelmed.
Instead, we’re reminded to bring all our worries to God – all of it; every worry, every fear, every unknown. Not because God needs the information because He already knows, but because we need the release.
We need the reminder that God is not distant. He is not indifferent. He is not waiting for us to sort ourselves out before He steps in, because He is with us now.
He’s with us in the middle of our mess, the questions, the uncertainty, and the waiting.
He holds our future in His hands – steady, secure, unshaken.
When we hand our worries to God, something holy happens – Not always instantly, not always dramatically, but quietly, deeply, faithfully His peace begins to guard us.
Not the peace that comes from everything working out the way we hoped. Not the peace that comes from having all the answers. But the peace that comes from knowing:
- God is here.
- God is good.
- God is in control.
And God is already in the days we’re worried about.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds, and that can be frightening. But we do know who holds tomorrow, and that changes everything for us.
So today, whatever is weighing on your heart, whatever is keeping you awake, whatever is stealing your joy or tightening your chest, give it to God. Not because you’re strong enough to let go, but because He is strong enough to carry it.
And as you do, I pray that His peace — the peace that doesn’t make sense, the peace that goes deeper than circumstances — guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus…Always.
