Never alone

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

There are seasons when even the busiest days feel strangely lonely. You can be surrounded by people, activity, music, and still carry questions, worries, or quiet grief that no one else sees.

Into that hidden place, Scripture speaks with a clear, steady voice:

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5

God does not promise an easy road, but He does promise us that He will always be by our side. He walks beside us in uncertainty, sits with us in our waiting, and goes before us into every tomorrow we’re anxious about today.

For us as a band, this is more than a comforting idea, because it’s the heart of our ministry. We don’t just want to fill a hall we play in with music; we want every note to remind the listen that, “You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone.”

When we play or sing, we’re praying that someone listening will sense the presence of the One who never leaves, even when everyone else has gone home.

The International Staff Songsters express these thoughts beautifully in the song ‘You Do Not Walk Alone.’

Its message is simple, but deeply needed: wherever you are in your journey – on the mountaintop, in the valley, or somewhere in between – God’s faithful presence surrounds you.

As you listen, let the words become personal:

  • You do not walk alone in this week’s pressures.
  • You do not walk alone in your questions.
  • You do not walk alone in your service and ministry.
