Over the last few days I’ve been asked a few times what I’m doing for the holiday weekend. Given that this is not a holiday weekend for me, as I do not get Friday and today as statutory holidays. Those days are days (along with other statutory holidays) that were added to our annual leave entitlement a few years ago.
It means that I don’t get these statutory or bank holidays anymore unless I take annual leave on these days. In many ways this suits me better as it means I am not forced to take days off when I don’t need any time off, however when it actually get to holiday weekend like this one, I wish I had taken the days off! I guess that’s especially true this weekend as the weather has been so good – We rarely get good weather over a holiday weekend, so maybe I should have taken advantage of the good weather, but I didn’t, so today I’ve been working while most other folk are out enjoying the sunshine.
