A Monday evening reflection

The first steps into a new working week often carry a particular weight. Monday arrives not just as a date on the calendar but as a doorway into everything that’s waiting for us — the tasks already on our plate, the projects that need attention, and the unexpected challenges that always seem to find their way in.

This week feels like one of those weeks where the pace is set early. With several on annual leave there’s extra responsibilities and challenges that I need to deal with – This is always expected during the holiday period, though it does adds additional responsibilities to an already busy week. There’s planning to do, support to give, and the quiet hope that everything will slot into place smoothly.

And then there are the competing projects. The ones that tug at your time, your focus, your energy. Managing them, resourcing them, keeping them moving — it’s challenging. It stretches you. It reminds you that leadership isn’t just about doing the work, but about holding the threads together when they’re pulling in different directions.

But here’s the encouragement for this Monday night:

I’ve handled weeks like this before. I’ve navigated pressure, juggled priorities, and carried responsibility with grace. I’ve shown resilience in seasons far more demanding than this one. And I’ve stepping into this week with that same strength.

So if you’re week has similar challenges to mine, take a moment tonight to breathe. To steady yourself. To acknowledge that the week ahead may be full, but you are not entering it empty. You bring experience, patience, and a capacity to rise to the challenge — even when the challenge feels bigger than you’d like.

And remember: you don’t walk into this week alone. God goes before you, beside you, and behind you.

My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 33:14

Let that promise settle your heart as Monday turns into Tuesday. Whatever this week holds, you are held.
