Ever felt like this?

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

I suspect at some point in our lives most of us have had times when we’ve felt like this. There is good news though – even when you feel this low, you are never on your own, because God is with you.

It may not feel as if God is with you, but He is. God simply reminds us that

I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held

That’s a great quote isn’t it! It’s true though, we can learn the most about ourselves when we’re going through difficult times. It’s also the time when we can feel furthest from God, even though He’s still there right beside us.

God is with us always, and no matter how dark life may get, He can help us rebuild our lives. It’s when we get through those tough times that we often realise that it was really God who got us through those dark days.

God rebuilds lives, and He can help you rebuild your’s today.

When we think of someone who gives life to those who are dying, who do you think of – A doctor, a surgeon, a physician?

All these answers are of course correct when it comes to our physical health, but what about our spiritual health, who gives you spiritual life?

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. ~ 1 John 5:12 (NIV)

We often hear God been called ‘the great physician’, that’s because he looks after our spiritual health just as doctors, surgeons look after our health.

So is the Son, Jesus at the centre of your life? If not, let the great physician help you improve your spiritual health today.

When you carry the Bible, Satan gets a headache..When you open it, he collapses. When he sees you reading it he faints. When he sees you are living what you read, he flees!! And, when you are about to re-post this message, he will try and discourage you … I defeated him!!

This was posted on a friend’s timeline on Facebook recently, and although I didn’t re-post or share it there, I did save it as I wanted to share it with you in my blog today.

So how much of this statement is true for you?

  • Do you carry your bible around with you (either the physical book or ability to access it on-line)?
  • Do you read your bible daily?
  • Do you live your life the way God wants you to?

I pray that, with God’s help, I can answer “Yes” to each of these questions, so that I can truly say I defeated Satan.

Have you ever experienced this, either as the recipient or the giver?

It can be hard not to retaliate when someone says or does something to hurt you. However if we return hatred with forgiveness, evil with love, hurtful words with prayer, we can do no more.

If we do nothing, how can we ever expect the world to find and acknowledge God?

Have you ever sat in a completely dark room, and realised just how intense the blackness that surrounds you actually is?

Have you noticed that when even the smallest of lights breaks through the darkness, just how bright that small chink of light provides?

Darkness cannot put out the Light. It can only make God brighter ~ Author unknown

Just as a small chink of light in a dark room can seem extra bright, so God’s love can be the answer to all this dark world needs.

I’ve had the words of the following song going through my head a lot in these last couple of weeks and have in fact shared them on Facebook:

Just be Held by Casting Crowns

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

And when you’re tired of fighting
Chained by your control
There’s freedom in surrender
Lay it down and let it go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your worlds not falling apart, its falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

And not a tear is wasted
In time, you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands

Lift your hands, lift your eyes
In the storm is where you’ll find Me
And where you are, I’ll hold your heart
I’ll hold your heart
Come to Me, find your rest
In the arms of the God who won’t let go

Some times, some days, all we need is a for someone to hold us tight. Some times we just need a reminder from God that He holds us every day, He directs us through life, and He lifts us up when we fall.

We are safe with Him because He holds us.

Under the influence

No, this blog post is not about being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, instead it’s about God!

under the influence of the spirit

Are you guilty of living under God’s influence? If not, why not?

Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? ~ Abraham Lincoln

Making friends of our enemies! This sounds really difficult, and probably fills each of us with fear and trepidation, doesn’t it?

However stop for a minute and truly think about that, and consider how your enemies will feel when you make friends with them…I’d go as far as saying they will be a little bit afraid and scared of what’s going on, but I would also like to think that they would be humbled and blown away that you have taken the time and effort to put aside any difference you may have, and start afresh by starting a friendship with them.

So go on, scare your enemies, make friends with them!

In this last week I’ve spoken about legacies and new beginnings, so to finish off the week, lets look at beginnings, middles and ends…

beginnings endings and the middle

It’s so true isn’t it, because sometimes we scare ourselves so much about what might happen if we try something that we never actually try it at all. Sadly, as I reminded you earlier in the week, there is one thing we can be sure of, and that is that we all die. However, rather than focusing on the things we’ve failed to start, or focusing on what will ultimately happen, we must enjoy what happens between those two events, as ultimately they are the times that define our legacy.
