It seems these days that we experience more and more storms now than we did in the past. Maybe it just seems this way because they have started naming our storms, whereas in the past, we just said we were having windy/wet weather and just got on with it?!

When it comes to storms or difficult times in our life, do you find you are experiencing more or less storms now than you did in the past?

Personally I’d say I am experiencing far more storms in my life now, as until a number of years ago I’m not sure I could really class any of the difficulties I experienced as storms, as looking back on them they were definitely just damp days! The difference now is that my faith is stronger now than it has ever been, and that is all because when I was at my lowest a number of years ago, I know God looked out for me, and He kept me going, and kept me fighting until I came through the storm.

Maybe you’re feeling on top of the world just now, maybe you’re at our lowest point. Whichever you find yourself in, just remember God is always with you, even when you find it hard to believe you’re still struggling through a storm of life.

I am sure of this, are you?

Even during the most difficult of times, I still praise the Lord, because I know He loves me – Do you?

These are some of the most reassuring words I have ever heard. Knowing that no matter what I face in life, God is with me, makes me happy.

If you do not believe in God, you probably don’t understand why those words make me so happy, or understand how words can make me happy as aren’t actions stronger than words?

For me I believe in God, and I’ve been through some very tough and difficult situations, and I know that if God hadn’t been with me to help me through I wouldn’t be here today. There was a time when I went through a difficult situation that I thought God had deserted and tried to ‘go it alone’, but when I hit rock bottom and could see no way out, I was desperate, and God reached out to me – I took His hand and so I am here today to tell you to believe in God, and believe He is with you all the time.

Already there by Casting Crowns

From where I’m standing
Lord, it’s so hard for me to see
Where this is going
And where You’re leading me
I wish I knew how
All my fears and all my questions
Are going to play out
In a world I can’t control

When I’m lost in the mystery
To You my future is a memory

‘Cause You’re already there
You’re already there
Standing at the end of my life
Waiting on the other side
And You’re already there
You’re already there

From where You’re standing
Lord, You see a grand design
That You imagined
When You breathed me into life
And all the chaos
Comes together in Your hands
Like a masterpiece
Of Your picture-perfect plan

When I’m lost in the mystery
To You my future is a memory

One day I’ll stand before You
And look back on the life I’ve lived
I can’t wait to enjoy the view
And see how all the pieces fit

One day I’ll stand before You
And look back on the life I’ve lived
‘Cause You’re already there
You’re already there
When I’m lost in the mystery
To You my future is a memory
‘Cause You’re already there
You’re already there
Standing at the end of my life
Waiting on the other side
And You’re already there
You’re already there

Make room

Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart?
Is there room in your heart
For God to write His story?

No matter how many Christmases you listen to carols, it’s all worthless if you don’t make room in your heart for God to write His story. This year, make sure there’s room for God.

When you think of a silent night what you think of?

If you’re the parent of a young child, maybe a night where the baby sleeps through the night. If you’re always busy, a silent night is maybe a rare night in with no visitors, no events to attend, to tasks to do.

For some like the two examples I’ve mentioned a silent night may be just what they dream of. For others a silent night is not what you need as maybe you’re struggling to cope with life, you’re lonely, or you’re just feeling so low.

Here’s a reminder from Casting Crowns that a silent night can be just what we need, just as that first Silent Night when Jesus was born was just what the world needed, and needs reminded of.

Somewhere in your silent night

All is calm and all is bright
Everywhere but in your heart tonight
They’re singing carols of joy and peace
But you feel too far gone and too far out of reach

Somewhere in your silent night
Heaven hears the song your broken heart has cried
Hope is here, just lift your head
For love has come to find you
Somewhere in your silent night

From Heaven’s height to manger low
There is no distance the Prince of Peace won’t go
From manger low to Calvary’s hill
When your pain runs deep, His love runs deeper still
He has always loved you, child
And He always will

Somewhere in your silent night
Heaven hears the song your broken heart has cried
Hope is here, just lift your head
For love has come to find you
Somewhere in your silent night Lift your head, lift your heart
Emmanuel will meet you where you are
He knows your hurt, He knows your name
And you’re the very reason that He came

Somewhere in your silent night
Heaven hears the song your broken heart has cried
Hope is here, just lift your head
For love has come to find you
Somewhere in your silent night…

Love will find you
Love will find you
Love will find you

What do you think about when you think of a potter?

Someone moulding clay into something useful  and beautiful?

I’m sure we’ve all heard God called a potter. As just as a potter moulds his clay into something beautiful, so God can ‘mould’ or help make us into someone beautiful. i.e. He can help us become more like Him – more caring, more loving, more understanding as well as someone reliable who others can always go to or approach whenever they are in need.

I am happy to put my life in the hands of The Potter, are you?

In the hands of the potter by Casting Crowns

I still remember when I heard You call me by name
I’d follow You anywhere, knew I could trust You in anything
But now sorrow beats down on me, waiting for You to come through
I’m all alone with my questions, I’m dry and cracked open
And I thirst for You

And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I’ll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter

My world is spinning, my life seems so out of control
Nailed scarred hands tell the story of love that will never let go of me
Through the sunshine or rain, I know where my hope is found
What You started in me, I know You will complete from the inside out

And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I’ll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter

My world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You’re making me
When my world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You’re making me
My world is breaking me, Your love is shaping me
And now the enemy is afraid of what You’re making me

And as I fall apart
Come flood this desert heart
Fall like the rain, Living Water
And I know Your way is best
Lord, help me find my rest
And I’ll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter

And I’ll be the clay
In the Hands of the Potter

Ever felt like this?

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

I suspect at some point in our lives most of us have had times when we’ve felt like this. There is good news though – even when you feel this low, you are never on your own, because God is with you.

It may not feel as if God is with you, but He is. God simply reminds us that

I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held

That’s a great quote isn’t it! It’s true though, we can learn the most about ourselves when we’re going through difficult times. It’s also the time when we can feel furthest from God, even though He’s still there right beside us.

God is with us always, and no matter how dark life may get, He can help us rebuild our lives. It’s when we get through those tough times that we often realise that it was really God who got us through those dark days.

God rebuilds lives, and He can help you rebuild your’s today.

When we think of someone who gives life to those who are dying, who do you think of – A doctor, a surgeon, a physician?

All these answers are of course correct when it comes to our physical health, but what about our spiritual health, who gives you spiritual life?

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. ~ 1 John 5:12 (NIV)

We often hear God been called ‘the great physician’, that’s because he looks after our spiritual health just as doctors, surgeons look after our health.

So is the Son, Jesus at the centre of your life? If not, let the great physician help you improve your spiritual health today.

When you carry the Bible, Satan gets a headache..When you open it, he collapses. When he sees you reading it he faints. When he sees you are living what you read, he flees!! And, when you are about to re-post this message, he will try and discourage you … I defeated him!!

This was posted on a friend’s timeline on Facebook recently, and although I didn’t re-post or share it there, I did save it as I wanted to share it with you in my blog today.

So how much of this statement is true for you?

  • Do you carry your bible around with you (either the physical book or ability to access it on-line)?
  • Do you read your bible daily?
  • Do you live your life the way God wants you to?

I pray that, with God’s help, I can answer “Yes” to each of these questions, so that I can truly say I defeated Satan.
