Today didn’t feel like a normal Monday — at least, not for me.
Most Mondays follow a familiar pattern: working from home, easing into the week, settling into the rhythm that helps me get through the days ahead. But this morning was different. I was up much earlier, out the door, and heading into the office for an in‑person meeting. It’s not my usual Monday routine, and it gave the whole day a slightly unusual flavour.
There’s something about stepping into a space you’re not normally in on a Monday.
The office felt both familiar and strange — This was not a week that my team are in the office on a Monday, so while the office had the same desks, the people were different (though ones I normally see via a Teams call), different conversations, but on the “wrong” day. It’s funny how small changes can unsettle our sense of time. I already know what’s coming: for the rest of the week, I’ll have absolutely no idea what day it is!
A Tuesday that feels like a Wednesday.
A Wednesday that feels like a Monday.
A Thursday that feels like… well, who knows.
But maybe that’s not such a bad thing.
Sometimes a shift in routine reminds us that life doesn’t always run in straight lines. It nudges us out of autopilot. It makes us pay attention. It reminds us that even in the ordinary rhythm of work, God is present — guiding, steadying, and gently shaping our days.
Scripture often speaks of God directing our steps, not our schedules.
Our calendars may wobble, but His care does not.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:6
So tonight, as Monday draws to a close, I’m choosing to see this little disruption as a gift. A reminder that God is in the unexpected moments as much as the predictable ones. A reminder that He walks with us whether we’re working from home, sitting in a meeting room, or trying to remember what day it is.
Whatever this week becomes — steady or scattered, calm or stressful — He is already in it – And that’s enough.
Even when our routines shift, God’s peace remains steady – be assured of that as you listen to ‘Be Still My Soul’ by Kari Jobe.
