God’s Grace Is Enough

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

Every promise we can make
Every prayer and step of faith
Every difference we will make
Is only by His grace
Every mountain we will climb
Every ray of hope we shine
Every blessing left behind
Is only by His grace

Chorus
Grace alone which God supplies
Strength unknown He will provide
Christ in us our Cornerstone
We will go forth in grace alone

Every soul we long to reach
Every heart we hope to teach
Everywhere we share His peace
Is only by His grace
Every loving word we say
Every tear we wipe away
Every sorrow turned to praise
Is only by His grace

There’s a quiet wonder in the word grace. It’s small enough to whisper, yet strong enough to hold the whole weight of the gospel. Grace is God choosing to love us, help us, forgive us, and lead us — not because we have earned it, but because His heart is overflowing with kindness.

Paul writes,

My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9

This verse reminds us that grace isn’t just a doorway into faith — it’s the strength that carries us through every measure, every rehearsal, every season of life. Grace meets us when our confidence falters, when our spirits feel thin, when the music doesn’t quite come together, and when life in general feels heavy. It steadies us, lifts us and keeps us.

As musicians, we know what it is to rely on breath, rhythm, and teamwork. Grace works the same way. It fills the empty spaces, it keeps us in time with God’s heart, and binds us together as a people who have been shown God’s extraordinary kindness — and who now try to reflect that kindness to others.

Grace is God going before us.

Grace is God walking beside us.

Grace is God carrying us when we cannot carry ourselves.

And every time we play, every time we serve, every time we gather, we do so as people shaped, strengthened, and sustained by grace alone. Here is a piece of music based around the words of the song ‘Grace Alone’, that beautifully captures that truth.
