Mission accomplished

There is something wonderfully satisfying about a Friday evening.

The alarms have been silenced (at least until Monday), the inbox can wait, and that long list of jobs that seemed impossible on Monday morning has somehow been navigated. Perhaps not perfectly, but successfully enough to reach the finish line!

I saw a funny clip recently of a someone sprinting out of their workplace as if they were escaping a building moments before it exploded in an action film. No explanation was needed. Every Friday worker understood immediately.

That little burst of joy at the end of the week reminds us of something important. We were never designed to run endlessly. God built rest into His creation. After six days of work, even the rhythm of Scripture points us towards refreshment and renewal.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Sometimes we think we need to earn rest by completing every task. The truth is that there will always be another email, another responsibility, another item on the list. Yet Christ invites us to pause, breathe, and place our burdens in His hands.

So tonight, whether your week felt productive or chaotic, take a moment to smile.

Celebrate the small victories.

Thank God for His faithfulness through another week.

And if you’re currently collapsing onto the sofa like that exhausted dog in the video clip, know that you’re in very good company!

May your Friday evening be filled with peace, laughter, and the assurance that God’s grace is sufficient for every day, including the days when your energy level is somewhere between “running on fumes” and “battery critically low.”

Happy Friday evening, and congratulations…you’ve made it to the weekend!
