Be a rainbow

As another Sunday evening settles around us, many of us find ourselves looking back over the weekend and looking ahead to the week before us. Some moments may have been filled with joy and laughter, while others may have brought challenges, disappointments, or unanswered questions. Yet wherever this weekend has found us, God’s presence has remained constant.

The beauty of a Sunday evening is that it offers us a pause. It is a gentle reminder that before the busyness of Monday begins, we can take a moment to breathe, reflect, and place our trust once again in the One who walks beside us every day.

The author and poet Maya Angelou once said:

Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.

What a wonderful challenge for us as followers of Christ. In a world where so many people carry hidden burdens, we have countless opportunities to bring encouragement, kindness, understanding, and hope. A simple conversation, a thoughtful message, a listening ear, or a heartfelt prayer can make a greater difference than we might ever realise.

As we prepare for a new week, perhaps we can ask ourselves: How can I be a rainbow in someone’s cloud? How can I reflect the love of God in my workplace, neighbourhood, church, or family?

The good news is that we do not have to create that light ourselves. God provides it. When we spend time in His presence, His peace strengthens us, His wisdom guides us, and His love flows through us to others.
