In my blog post Teach Me To Pray I talked about some of the things you can do to help you pray. One of those I mentioned was using a prayer diary.
Do you, or have you ever used a prayer diary?
I started using one just over a year ago. Why? Because I was finding when I was praying I’d focus on those I’d spoken to or heard about most recently instead of praying for all those I knew were in need of prayer. I still spend prayer time praying for specific people or situations however I try to make sure that I try to being all of them to God in prayer, not just a few of them.
So how do I use my prayer diary?
I carry a small Moleskine notebook with me nearly all the time, which when someone or something comes to mind that I need to pray for I add it to my prayer diary. Sometimes I add specific details of why I added them at a particular time, so I can be more specific in my prayers.
I find using a Prayer Diary very useful. I hope I’ve given you an insight into why and how you may want to use a prayer diary yourself, however, at the end of the day, you need to do what helps you with your prayer time, and not just do something because others tell you it works for them.
Enjoy talking with God.
