Do you hate your job?

hate my jobAre you in a job that you hate?

Do you get little or no support from your manager or supervisor?

Do your co-workers make your life a misery?

If you answered “Yes” to one or more of those questions, I’m sorry.  It’s not fun being in a job you hate, but don’t be discouraged because you’re not stuck there. This is a way out and there will be a better job for you out there.

So here’s some things you can do to help you feel better:

1. Read Psalm 37

2. Be thankful for what you have

I know this may sound dismissive of how you feel, but I’m trying to make you feel positive about your situation. So remember, there are many who don’t have a job and would love a job, any job, your job. So try to be thankful that you have a job which pays your salary and allows you to provide for your family.

3. Work harder

When you hate your job, it can be easy to just do the minimum you have to do and that you can get away with. However we’re called to work hard. In Colossians 3:23 we read

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.

God challenges to work hard, so that’s what we must do because it’ll bring you peace. If you work hard, regardless of your boss or your co-workers treat you, God promises things will work out for you. Don’t get caught up in brown-nosing or jumping through hoops to keep the boss or your co-workers  in a good mood. Simply trust God to take care of things for you.

4. Be Active

Keep looking for other job opportunities.

Keep updating your CV.

Keep going on training courses and self-improvement training to make yourself a more valuable asset to an employer.

5. Pray

Lastly, but probably most importantly, keep praying!

It may be obvious, but when you find thing difficult, I know prayer can often be one of the first things you omit to do. Again I remind you that Psalm 37 is worth praying for yourself – It talks a lot about waiting on the Lord and how He sustains the righteous.

Pray God will help you with your boss and your co-workers, and help you stick out your job until you find other employment. Ask Him to help you find that job that you’ll love, as I’m sure He will!

  1. Thanks for the wisdom. Currently, I’m working at a job I can’t stand. My aspirations are for higher things but I must remember to wait. It’s tough working day in day out for a place you can barely stand. This article hit close to home for me. Patience is a hard thing. And praying for things to get better is hard too. It’s hard to believe when everything seems like it won’t get better. So, I thank you for your honesty and your inspiration. From one writer to another.. Thanks 😉

    1. Jobs can be difficult on so many levels, especially as everyone is an individual in their own right with different personalities, different career aspirations and different things going on in their lives outside of work, all of which affect how they interact in the workplace.
I agree, patience can be difficult to find. However, if we pray for patience, I am confident God WILL provide, in His way, just as He does in every aspect of our lives.
I pray God will answer your prayers.
      Keep believing!

    1. I have no magic answers. So all I can suggest it you follow the suggestions I’ve made in this blog post. Only other thing would be to take to you Co – workers. Does your boss know how you feel? Can they offer you any advice?
