See, what a morning, gloriously bright, With the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; Folded the grave-clothes, tomb filled with light, As the angels announce, "Christ is risen!" See God's salvation plan, Wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice, Fulfilled in Christ, the Man, For He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!
Just as God knew the day would come when Christ would have to die to save mankind, so Jesus predicated that he would rise from the dead.
Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.Mark 8:31 (NRSV)
Imagine you’ve been at the funeral of a family member or close friend two days ago, then you get a phone call from a friend to tell you they’ve seen and spoken to that person just a few minutes ago. You’d probably think they were mad or having some kind of mental breakdown, wouldn’t you?
Even though Jesus had predicted his resurrection, there would still have been disbelief when Mary Magdalene found Jesus was alive again. One thing did become clear that day – life would never be the same for anyone again!
Each day God calls us to never be the same. Think about the seeds that we plant in the ground in spring – they don’t try and stay in the soil forever, instead they grow and push their way through to the surface of the earth so they can reach towards the sun. We too, shoudn’t remain where we are today, instead we should turn to the Son so can grow in our lives. This is especially true during the times when we feel suffocated and buried by difficult situations in life, such as those we are experiencing in current times.
God calls us to turn our eyes back to Him and gaze upon the light of His love – The same love that conquered death, can conquer our fears, doubts and heartache. His love brings new life and gives us the strength to grow and blossom.
So today, rejoice that we have new life, because He is risen, He is risen indeed!
