The light is on

When you’re waiting for someone to come home when it’s dark outside, many will leave a light on at their front door or porch, to help make it easier for the person to find their way home.

I know both when I was younger and lived at home with my Mum and Dad, if I was out late at night, they’d leave the porch light on for me, so it was easier for me to see the door lock and get into the house.

Even these days, if we’re out late or waiting for someone to come to the house when it’s dark outside, we also leave the porch light on so help guide us or others to our home.

Light is something we hear a lot about in relation to God and Christ, and our path to God being lit for us to follow:

Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.

Psalm 43:3

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalm 119:105

Just as we following the light that’s left on in our porch to guide us home, so God leaves His light on always, as he is waiting and ready to welcome you into His house, forever.
