Can you remember, exactly where and what you were doing on 1 October 2018?
There’s not a lot of dates and times in my life I can tell you with 100% certainty where and what I was doing at that time, but that date I just asked you about (2 years ago today), is definitely one of them, as I was in hospital having had life saving surgery that day to fix a congenital heart defect.
In many ways I can’t believe that it’s already two years since my surgery, but I do thank God every day for his presence in my life, and for still having plans for me, and giving me new life.
I’m not going to lie, these last couple of year have been very tough physically and emotionally, as it’s been a balancing act trying to get active again, but also not overdoing things as my body continues to recover from the trauma of major heart surgery. It is a long road – one I’ve still on.
Just as last year at this time, I’ve found the song It Is Well by Philippa Hanna, stuck in my head again. It must be something in particular about the anniversary of my surgery that brings the emotions of 2 years ago come flooding back, and remind me that even during those difficult times in my life, my focus must always remain on God.
This is my favourite verse from this song
Far be it from me to not believe Even when my eyes can't see And this mountain that's in front of me Will be thrown into the midst of the sea Through it all, through it all My eyes are on You Through it all, through it all It is well
