I was working away in my home office this afternoon, when I suddenly realised how dark it had got in the room, and how dark it now was outside. When I looked to see what time it was I realised it was only 15 minutes since I had last noticed the time when I finished a Teams call.
How dark it had become very quickly! Almost without warning daylight and turned into nighttime. It reminded me that even when everything in our life is going great, sadly, that can all change in an instant. Even the pandemic we are currently living through seemed to just be contained in one small area, and then very quickly, had turned into a major world pandemic, with people in every nation affected by this deadly virus.
When those dark times in our lives come, we need to be ready, we need to be prepared so just as we wouldn’t invite family and friends to our house for dinner without planning the food or drinks we are going to serve them, so we shouldn’t go through any day without God being part of it. With God by our side, he won’t stop those bad day happening, but at least we’ll be prepared for whatever comes our way.
So don’t end up in darkness, stumbling about trying to find your way, instead start and finish each day with God, and have a chat with him during the day whenever you want – He’ll always be there right beside you, ready to catch you when you ‘fall’ into darkness.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (ESV)
