Do you have room?

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

Anyone who has ever spent hours travelling to go on holiday, business or to visit family and friends, will know that after hours of travel, sitting in the same location or maybe driving for hours, you are exhausted, and just want a comfy bed to relax and rest.

After a long and arduous journey to Bethlehem while heavily pregnant, Mary must have longed for a place to rest, to prepare to give birth to God’s Son. Can you imagine how she and Joseph must have felt when they arrive in Bethlehem to find that because it was so busy there, they couldn’t find a room anywhere? That was only the case until one of the innkeepers offered them the one place he had available, a stable, where Mary and Joseph would need to rest amongst the animals.

The innkeeper actually had a very important role in the birth of Christ, as imagine how differently that first Christmas may have turned out, if the innkeeper hadn’t offered Mary and Joseph his stable to rest in.

Each of us is the innkeeper who decides whether to let Jesus in or not!

Neal A Maxwell

Just as the innkeeper let Mary and Joseph into his stable, so Christ wants us to open our hearts and let Him into our lives. I pray that this Christmas, you will find room in your heart to let the King of Glory, Jesus, enter into your heart.
