Self esteem is typically defined as confidence in one’s own worth or abilities. As a Christian, self esteem could be defined as having confidence that we are who God says we are. In other words, we’re not dependent on our on abilities, but instead relying on God to provide all we need to achieve what we has planned for us.
Have you ever found yourself saying this about yourself, “I tried so hard, but I just wasn’t good enough”?
Don’t give in to that lie, as you are more than enough, and God tells us that in the bible.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.
Jeremiah 17:7
I can be the world’s worst because I tend to focus on my weaknesses, reminding myself constantly that I could, and should do better. I do so at the expensive of celebrating and being grateful for my strengths.
Thankfully God doesn’t need us to be the the best or even second or third best at anything. Instead He simply wants us to do our best in the knowledge that when we put our trust in Him, we can have the confidence that He will help us to do His work.
