Monday nights have a particular feel to them, don’t they?
Some of us only had the two statutory days leave over Easter, while others are back into the routine of work, alarms, commutes, working from home, and to‑do lists. Others are still on leave, enjoying the slower pace of the second week of the school Easter holidays. Then there are those trying to juggle both — work in one hand, childcare in the other, wondering how many snacks a child can possibly eat in a single day!
Wherever you fall on that spectrum, this week begins with a truth worth holding onto: God meets us right where we are — rested or weary, organised or scrambling, on holiday or working.
The post‑Easter season is a funny one. The celebrations are behind us. The chocolate is mostly gone. Life settles back into something more ordinary. However the message of Easter doesn’t fade with the bank holiday. The risen Christ doesn’t retreat when the calendar returns to ‘normal life’.
If anything, this quieter stretch gives us space to notice God more clearly.
Maybe you’re stepping into a busy week. Maybe you’re stepping into a quiet one. Maybe you’re stepping into a week you’re not quite ready for.
But remember you’re not stepping into it alone because the same Jesus who walked out of the tomb walks into Monday and the rest of this week with you: Into your workplace; Into your home; Into your routines, your responsibilities, your hopes, and your worries.
So as this new week begins, take a moment tonight to breathe, to reset, and to remember that God is already ahead of you, already beside you, already strengthening you for whatever comes.
Whether your week is full of meetings or memories or slow mornings, may you carry this assurance with you – God is present. God is faithful. God is enough.
And that is more than enough to set us up for the days ahead!
I’d like to share a prayer with you now for all this week will bring our way:
Lord, as we step into this new week - some rested, some weary, some still in holiday mode and some already back in the thick of things — meet us with Your steady presence.
Quiet our worries, strengthen our spirits, and help us to notice the small ways You walk beside us each day.
Fill our homes, our workplaces, and our moments of pause with Your peace.
Guide us, refresh us, and remind us that we never face a single day alone.
Amen.
