Looking forward

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

We’ve been living in extraordinary times in this last year. It’s been a year of mainly lows for many, with us all questionning if and when our lives will return to ‘normal’.

In the coming weeks restrictions will gradually start to be lifted, so I’m sure there are specific things we are each looking forward to, such as

  • meeting up with family or friends; or
  • going to a restaurant for a meal; or
  • going to the gym or leisure centre; or
  • getting your haircut at the hairdressers or barbers; or
  • having a face-to face meeting with work colleagues instead of virtual meetings.

These are just a few examples of what you may be looking forward to, as I’m sure we all have many others!

What about your relationship with God, have you turned away from Him in this last year when we’ve all faced challenges, or have you put your trust firmly in God to guide us through these months?

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV)

As we look forward today, I pray that, no matter what this next year may bring, we put our trust fully in God, as He will continue to guide and strengthen us.
